The call for subscription into the new bidding for Optical Equipment opens this Wednesday, March 11, 2020.  Once acquired, the optical equipment will illuminate the interconnection sections of the BELLA-T Project between Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador, in order to update the RedCLARA infrastructure in South America.

The first stage of the bidding process closes on April 14 and will be conducted through a competitive procedure with negotiation in accordance with the EU Public Procurement Directive and repealing Directive 2004/24 / EC.

BELLA-T is a project funded by the European Commission under Contract LA / 2016 / 376-534 with the goal of achieving a significant long-term improvement of the South American academic network, allowing the Latin American Regional Research and Education Network, RedCLARA, to guarantee complete and equitable access of the NRENs of Latin America to the capacity of the direct submarine cable between Europe and Latin America. This submarine cable is being acquired through the BELLA-S Project, an underwater part of the BELLA Program.

After the Assembly and Directory held from December 3 to 5, 2019 in the city of La Serena, Chile, the members of the renewed structure of the Directing Council met by videoconference, on March 2, 2020, to choose those who will occupy the different positions of its structure. RedCLARA work team and members want to thank the work and commitment of Carlos Casasús, who was president of its Board of Directors for the last six years, guiding the transition process lived in 2017.

The Organizing Committee of the TICAL2020 Conference and the 4th Latin American e-Science Meeting announced this Monday, March 8, the opening of the early bird registration period for the two events, which will be held in Cuenca, Ecuador, between August 30 and September 2.

Thanks to an agreement signed between the National Council of Rectors of Costa Rica (CONARE) and the Superintendence of Telecommunications (SUTEL), the eduroam service joined the "Connected Public Spaces" program. This program aims at providing the population with free access to the Internet in 515 Zones of Wireless Internet (ZWI). To date, there are 301 ZWI of the 515 that the project includes.
