The National Academic Network of Advanced Technology of Colombia (RENATA) and Colombia Telecomunicaciones S.A. signed an agreement to renegotiate the IRU contract, which has been in operation since 2015, in order to generate new service models, expand coverage, provide high-capacity connectivity throughout the national territory, maintaining the autonomy to generate alliances with other suppliers.

(By Rossana Norman, GÉANT) On the arrival of the cable ship Ile de Bréhat to Fortaleza (Brazil), and the start of the cable landing operation of a section of the EllaLink submarine cable that will connect Europe to Latin America, under the auspices of the EU-funded BELLA Programme, we had the opportunity to interview Jeremie Maillet, VP of Marine Operations for Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN).

The five interns who completed the process oversaw the deployment, configuration, testing and integration of computational computing systems (Jupyter notebooks), user interface (Django), version control (gitlab) and SAML 2.0 federated authentication.

The University of Aysén, the Atacama Astronomical Park Foundation and the Chilean Institute of Law and Technology are the newest members of the Chilean advanced network REUNA, also accessing the benefits offered by RedCLARA to their associated national networks. The agreements for the entry of organizations into the Chilean network were signed during the second semester of 2020 and aim, through cooperation and joint initiatives, to promote innovation and the development of the science, technology and higher education ecosystem in Chile.
