The call for FRIDA, LACNIC's regional fund for strengthening the Internet in Latin America and the Caribbean closes on Friday, June 11 at 23:59 GMT-3.

Monday, May 31, 12 PM GMT. This is the deadline for scientists and researchers who want to send their papers to the calls of the TICAL2021 Conference and the 5th Latin American e-Science Meeting, which will be held in virtual and free of charge format between August 30 and September 2.

At this week’s Leading the Digital Decade, a two-day online event focused on Europe’s digital transformation towards 2030, the BELLA Programme welcomed on the first day the inauguration of the new 6,000km EllaLink submarine cable connection that directly links Europe and Latin America.

The call for abstracts for the AmeriGEO Week (August 23-27, online) is now open and the deadline for submission is June 15, 2021. The event is looking for abstracts for presentations and posters on the various Earth observation applications to understand and sustainably manage natural resources and the environment.

The EllaLink submarine cable system -that is part of the BELLA Programme- that will connect Europe & South America, will be inaugurated in the framework of the “Leading the Digital Decade 1-2 June 2021” event (June 1 and 2, from 10:00 to 17:30 CET). Within the programme of the first day, in the slot that runs from 16:30 to 17:15 CET, “International Partnerships for The Digital Decade”, the leaders of GÉANT and RedCLARA will refer to the importance of BELLA.

Researchers and scientists who wish to apply to the TICAL2021 and the 5th Latin American e-Science Meeting calls for papers won more time to do so. The Program Committee of the two events announced this Monday the extension of the deadline for submission of papers until May 31.
