Gathered in Medellin, Colombia, on November 2 and 3, 2017, at the Fifth Meeting of Ministers and High level Authorities on Science and Technology of the Americas (V REMCYT) within the framework of the Inter-American Council for Integral Development (CIDI), the ministers and high authorities of science and technology of the Organization of American States (OAS) member states, issued the "Declaration of Medellín: Science, Technology and Innovation as Pillars of Transformation in the Americas", where they agree to accelerate the technological development of the region.

With the participation of representatives from Chile, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, El Salvador, Colombia, Argentina and Costa Rica, the Directive Council of LA Referencia met from September 27 to 29 in Buenos Aires aiming to generating a strategy to consolidate the network as a public good, highlighting the capacity for articulation and generation of agreements among member countries.
