The Global Science Communities team of the MAGIC project intends to host virtual "Grand Rounds" in the month of September 2016, and is therefore requesting persons/organisations from across the globe to indicate their interest in presenting. Teams are encouraged to collaborate.

Come and meet those using Remote Instruments for Medical Applications! The presenters will be the experts Dr.Patricia Santiago and Dr. Valverde (México), Dr. Shuji Shimizu, M.D. Ph.D. (Japan), Prof .Winston G. Mendes Davidson (Jamaica) and Dr. Michel J.F. Walravens (Belgium).
Under the theme “Engineering Innovations and Global Sustainability”, the event will be held at the Hotel Marriott in San José, Costa Rica, from July 16 to 22, 2016. Registration to participate in the event is still open.

The argentine Ernesto Chinkes is one of the most important actors in the development of TICAL in recent years and knows the Conference as few figures. He has been the chairman of its Program Committee in three consecutive years, and this year was named Honorary President. In 2016, however, the meeting will have a special taste for him. It is the first time that TICAL is carried out in Argentina. In this interview, Chinkes tells us a little about his expectations, on how institutions are preparing for the event and leave a message to encourage the participation of latin americans.
On July 7, two 100 Gbps connections between São Paulo and Miami were activated, which expand the international output of the Brazilian academic network. The links, which go through submarine cables in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, are maintained by the Amlight consortium, which manages the connections between the United States and Latin America for teaching and research purposes.
