SCALAC Presents 2025 HPC Infrastructure Report at CARLA 2026

During CARLA 2026, Conference held in Córdoba, Argentina, from September 21st to 25th, the Advanced Computing System for Latin America and the Caribbean, SCALAC, launched the “High-Performance Computing Infrastructure in Latin America and the Caribbean – 2025 Annual Usage Report”, a new study of the HPC infrastructure, its utilization, and the operational support given by the participating centres.

(Source: SCALAC) The report examines 34 HPC systems across nine Latin American countries, with 26 institutional affiliations reported by the participating centres. Its usage data covers from January 1st to December 31, 2025, while the survey was carried out between March and September 2026.

The findings highlight three opportunities for regional cooperation: expanding effective access to available computing capacity, strengthening operational support, and improving how centres measure and compare system usage. For the authors, it is important to explain that the report reflects only the centres that participated in the survey; it is not a complete inventory of the region’s HPC infrastructure, and this edition does not include systems from Caribbean countries.

The report was authored by Nicolás Wolovick, Tomás Bazán, Carlos Jaime Barrios Hernández, and Esteban Hernández, and reviewed by Philippe Navaux.
