Academic community of RENATA will get access to over 1000 services through eduGAIN
Through eduGAIN, the scientific and educational community of RENATA (Colombia) will get access to content, services and resources of 40 countries around the world. The academic community of the institutions connected to RENATA may use around 1135 new services.
The Academic National Network of Advanced Technology of Colombia (RENATA) is now part of the eduGAIN members list, after having fulfilled all the requirements of the GÉANT Project, the collaboration network of the national research and education networks of the European Community.
Through eduGAIN, teachers and researchers of the institutions connected to RENATA in Colombia can now access, with their institutional user names and passwords, to services offered by institutions connected to the academic networks of Germany, Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, United States, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey. (See the identity federations of the countries connected to eduGAIN in http://www.eduGAIN.org/technical/status.php).
According to Hernán García, support engineer of RENATA for the ELCIRA project, "the institutions that are interested in having access to the service, should implement an Identity Provider (IdP) and belong to Colfire, the colombian identity federation administered by RENATA".
