RedCLARA and SCALAC develop supercomputing camp for students in Latin America
More than 20 masters and doctoral students from member institutions of RedCLARA's member national networks are meeting virtually between Monday 6 and Saturday 11 December, on the occasion of SC-Camp 2021, a week of training organized by the network regional, SCALAC and the Industrial University of Santander (UIS Colombia), with an emphasis on high-performance and distributed computing.
During the six days of this which is the 12th edition of the event, the students will carry out several practical programming sessions and a collaborative project, with the main objective of supporting the strengthening of RedCLARA, which is why most of the talks and courses They will be in Spanish this year. Among the instructors this year are experts from the University of Luxembourg, the UIS and the University of Caracas.
SC-Camp is a summer school and non-profit event on supercomputing and distributed systems. It proposes a series of courses around the theme of High Performance Computing with an important focus on practical sessions (more than half the time). It is aimed at master's and doctoral students in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, and any other field that may benefit from HPC (Physics and Materials Sciences, Biology / Bioinformatics, Finance, etc.).
