EVALSO: Enabling Virtual Access to LA Southern Observatories
Started in January, the EVALSO (Enabling Virtual Access to Latin-America Southern Observatories) project's role is to enable virtual access to the Latin-America Southern Observatories, by means of the connection of the Chilean NREN, REUNA, to the RedCLARA network and through it to GÉANT2. World-class experimental facilities are often placed in remote sites which makes the exploitation of these facilities socially and economically difficult. European research community depends on these facilities to maintain its role and in this light networking technologies can play a significant role.
