La creatividad, pero sobre todo, la funcionalidad del sitio web de RENATA (Red Nacional Académica de Tecnología Avanzada) lo ha hecho merecedor de estar entre los nominados del Premio Colombia en Línea 2010, el reconocimiento más importante en su género en el país suramericano.
RENATA coloca, de esta forma, su página Web entre los Mejores Sitios de Investigación colombianos y destaca entre la comunidad tecnológica y de investigación por sus esfuerzos en pro de la innovación. Como miembro de la Cooperación Latinoamericana de Redes Avanzadas (CLARA), también representa un respaldo de la calidad que tal iniciativa intenta proyectar y desarrollar en todos los países de la región.

From September 27th to October 1st, Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua, will host the fourth ALICE2 Project meeting and the thirteenth CLARA technical meeting. During the five days of the event the agenda will include workshops, scientific meetings and a technical training course, all of which will feature the participation of management staff, members of all the networks connected to RedCLARA and renowned actors from research and education.
The commercial internet (commodity internet)–or Public Connectivity- service for RedCLARA’s member National Research and Education Networks (NREN) is an IPv4 and IPv6 traffic exchange/peering, for which RedCLARA provides a virtual circuit between a router located in its backbone in one or more border points (such as Miami, Sao Paulo, Santiago, etc.) and the NREN’s header router.
The interconnection model between RedCLARA and the NREN guarantees the bandwidth up to the point of exchange with commercial internet, where the network is converted into the Best Effort Model given the conditions of global providers of commercial internet.
Through its NOC – Network Operations Centre – RedCLARA provides permanent support (24 hours a day, 365 days a year) and regularly provides documentation referred to the service status of your network.
RedCLARA provides this service only for its member NRENs, so they can, in turn, offer it to their member institutions. For greater transparency, the service is charged according to the level of bandwidth use, the link’s capacity and the existence or absence of a NOC in the NREN.

La actividad, que se llevó a cabo el 9 y 10 de septiembre en Washington D.C, tuvo el objetivo de contribuir a la definición y ejecución de políticas para el desarrollo científico, tecnológico y de innovación en América Latina. Benjamín Marticorena, gerente de relaciones académicas, participó en representación de la Corporación Latinoamericana de Redes Avanzadas.

Los representantes de comunicaciones y relaciones públicas de las NREN Latinoamericanas compartieron experiencias, retos y perspectivas en el arranque de su primera reunión presencial. El intercambio, que tiene lugar en Managua, durará dos días y promete marcar un hito en la historia de las comunicaciones de CLARA.
