The pan-European academic network GÉANT has prepared a series of videos highlighting the role of women in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics around the world. The material has been prepared in celebration of Women's Month and counts with the participation of Latin American representatives.
Throughout five chapters, the #WomenInSTEM webseries brings together 24 leading women in these sectors and also men who are advocates of Gender Equality to share their stories and inspire future generations. The episodes will be released throughout the month of March, with the themes “Overcoming Challenges”, “Female Role Models and Mentors”, “Why Diversity Matters”, “The Power of Women's Networks” and “Words to future generations”.
In the first episode, now available on the GÉANT channel on YouTube, five members of the international GÉANT community – among whom the executive director of the Chilean advanced network, REUNA, Paola Arellano, the Director of Research and Development of the Brazilian advanced network, RNP, Iara Machado, and the Executive Director of RedCLARA, Luis Eliécer Cadenas - discuss the importance of teams with greater gender diversity, not only as a better representation of the community at the that they intend to serve, but also as an opportunity to develop their full potential at work.
