November 19 to December 14: “Predatory Academic Practices: Regional Perspectives and Learning” Webinar Series
This series of five free webinars is designed to help researchers in their respective regions learn more about predatory academic practices and minimise their risk of using them.
(Source: IAP) Each webinar will bring together the InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) Working Group members, who are leading IAP’s study on these practices (https://www.interacademies.org/project/predatorypublishing) and other scientists in the region, in different disciplines and career stages, to discuss learning from the study and hear regional perspectives on predatory journals and conferences. The webinars are as follows:
- Europe (co-hosted by EASAC): 19 November
- Africa (co-hosted by NASAC): 24 November
- Americas (co-hosted by IANAS): 3 December
- Asia (co-hosted by AASSA): 7 December
- Global (co-hosted by TWAS): 14 December
Interested participants are welcome to register for multiple sessions though some of the material will be common to all of them. There will be opportunities to submit questions to the speakers and panelists. All researchers, as well as those in other related sectors (such as research funders and publishers, and libraries and indexing services) are encouraged to participate.
The series are hosted by IAP with the Global Young Academy (GYA), the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA), the European Academies’ Science Advisory Council (EASAC), the Inter-American Network of Academies of Science (IANAS), the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).
